(Technology) – International Business Machines named former Bank of America top technology executive Howard Boville as the head of its cloud business, with Arvind Krishna taking over from long-time chief Ginni Rometty.
Krishna headed the Big Blue’s fast-growing cloud business before becoming the CEO in late-January.
As Bank of America’s CTO, Boville was responsible for building and running the second-largest U.S. bank’s cloud services.
IBM created a financial services-specific cloud technology with Bank of America, in November.
Krishna was the key architect of IBM’s $34 billion Red Hat acquisition last year. He made the announcements in a letter to employees taking charge on Monday.
Paul Cormier has also been appointed as the new chief executive officer of Red Hat, succeeding Jim Whitehurst, who was named IBM’s president in late-January.
