(Technology) – Marriott International Inc reported that the information of approximately 5.2 million hotel guests was breached.
This is the second such incident for Marriott in under two years.
The breached information includes contact details, loyalty account information and additional personal details like gender and birthdays. This information may have been accessed with the login credentials of two employees at a Marriott franchise property.
Marriott revealed that information like account passwords, payment card information and passport information were not part of the breach.
Marriott is investigating the incident, believed to have begun in mid-January and identified in February end.
In November 2018, Marriott’s Starwood guest reservation database was breached exposing information on about 500 million guests.
