(Technology) – Alphabet Inc shall be donating over $800 million in funds to produce medical supplies to fight COVID-19 and to ad credits to government and health organizations and businesses, according to Alphabet’s CEO Sundar Pichai.

Magid Glove and Safety has been approached by Alphabet to produce 2 million to 3 million face masks. Financial support efforts to boost the production capacity for lifesaving medical devices and personal protective equipment will also be looked into, Pichai said.

The coronavirus outbreak killed nearly 25,000 people globally and has strained global healthcare systems and led to medical equipment shortage including face masks and ventilators.

$340 million will be provided in Google ad credits to small and medium businesses active on its platform and $250 million in ad grants for the World Health Organization and many government agencies.
