BELFAST/LONDON – On Thursday, Northern Ireland confirmed its first coronavirus case bringing up the coronavirus case count in the UK up to 16.
Northern Ireland’s chief medical officer Micheal McBride said that the patient diagnosed with coronavirus travelled from Italy via Dublin airport.
The patient’s movements have been informed to the Republic of Ireland as well.
On Thursday, England’s chief medical officer Chris Whitty confirmed 2 coronavirus cases both of which were contracted in Italy and Tenerife and those patients are now receiving specialist care.
Governments are stepping up and improving measures to fight the looming global coronavirus pandemic as the infection has continued to spread outside China.
Over 80,000 people have been infected by the coronavirus so far and over 2,800 have died.
