DUBAI – On Sunday, an earthquake of 5.8 magnitude hit southern Iran’s Qeshm Island.
A local official reassured that no casualties were reported and only minor damage seems apparent.
“So far, there has been no loss of life reported. The damage to buildings has been at the level of cracks in walls.”

The quake was given a 5.5 magnitude according to the United States Geological Survey.
Qeshm lies not far from the Strait of Hormuz which is a vital waterway wherein a fifth of the world’s oil passes.
