INCHEON – On Sunday, as “Parasite” director Bong Joon-ho returned to South Korea, he was greeted with an audience of 300+ reporters and fans celebrating his historic four-Oscar win.
As Bong arrived at the Incheon International airport, he was met with cheers and applause.
“Thank you for the applause, I would like send a round of applause back to you all for coping so well with the coronavirus. I will join the effort to overcome the corona by washing my hands diligently. Happy to be home.”

In the Academy Awards’ 92-year history, “Parasite” became the first foreign-language film to bag the best picture award.
It took home a total of four Oscars- best picture, best director, best original screenplay, best international feature film.
The Oscar-winning film narrates the tale of two South Korean families- richer Parks and poor Kims- mirroring the disparity in the economy of the country.
The tale struck a chord with audiences across the globe. On Wednesday, Bong and the “Parasite” cast are going to schedule a press conference.
