On Saturday, Twitter said that the official Olympics and International Olympic Committee (IOC) official Twitter accounts had been hacked and temporarily locked.
The hacking was done via a third-party platform. No further details on the matter were given.
Twitter said that as soon as the issue was made apparent to them, the compromised accounts were locked and they began their restoration.
IOC also said that it was investigating the potential breach. On Saturday, FC Barcelona also faced a similar incident.
Last month, several U.S. NFL teams’ accounts on Twitter were hacked a few days before the Super Bowl.
