NEW YORK CLEARING

On Tuesday, British sculptor Antony Gormley revealed a large aluminium art installation to the public in Brooklynn, New York. “New York Clearing” was funded by South Korean pop-band BTS as part of a global public art project.

The grey skies and rainy weather still allowed the curves of the metal fight for whatever little light there was for a spectacular display. Gormley encouraged visitors to explore instead of just observe because “New York Clearing” is different from most sculptures which remain strictly off-limits.

An invitation was extended to observe something somewhere between a nest and a trap reacting to both human and atmospheric conditions.

“Connect, BTS” spans across London, Berlin, Buenos Aires, Seoul and New York and Gormley’s installation at Brooklynn Bridge Park is one of them. It shall be on display till March 27th.
