CALABASAS, Calif. – One of NBA’s greatest players of all-time, Kobe Bryant, was killed on Sunday in a helicopter crash. The 41-year-old international star died in the crash near Los Angeles with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna Bryant and seven others on board.
Bryant’s shot to fame was starting out as an 18-year-old rookie and his 20-year career with the LA Lakers, 18 of them being an all-star.
The death sent shockwaves across the NBA.
The cause of the crash was unknown and the investigation might take months.
Bryant often travels in helicopters to avoid the Los Angeles traffic. Bryant’s S-76 chopper crashed at around 10 am (1800 GMT) in foggy weather in hilly Calabasas, California sparking a bushfire.
The crash left no survivors and the identity of the other victims has not been revealed yet.
Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and NBA Commissioner Adam Silver were among those who died. Condolences were sent to Bryant’s wife Vanessa.
