DAVOS, Switzerland – On Thursday, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that the world required an open dialogue regarding climate change to bridge the gap between sceptics and believers.
She expressed urgency on the matter stating that time is running out to cut emissions which are driving global warming, at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
She also stated that older people, akin to her 65-year-old self, must understand and positively and constructively take in the impatience of young people.
The first two days of the Davos conclave were dominated by the tussle between 73-year old Trump and 17-year-old Greta Thunberg. Corporate leaders were caught in the crossfire and raised concerns that in addition to exchanging words, concrete decisions needed to be made too.
Merkel drew thundering applause from the audience with her statement saying opposing sides on climate change and polarised topics of the sort must learn to talk with each other again.
