Ruggia charged by French prosecutors with sexual assault of minor

PARIS- On Thursday, French film director Christophe Ruggia was charged with sexual assault of a minor in a case involving a girl in a film of his from over two decades ago.

Ruggia was placed under judicial supervision, stated the prosecutors. Ruggia’s lawyer Jean-Pierre Versini-Campinchi said that he denies misconduct.

The actress, now 31-year-old Adele Haenel was allegedly assaulted and harassed by Ruggia between 2001 and 2004. This happened after she was cast in a movie directed by him called “Les Diables”.

Haenel claims that she was first harassed at the age of 12 and it continued till she was 15 years of age.
