NORTH SAANICH, British Columbia- Communities in a few of the smaller towns dotting Canada’s west coast on the southern end of Vancouver Island are abuzz with interest on the likelihood of Britain’s Prince Harry and wife Meghan may take up semi-permanent residence there.
The couple created a Trans-Atlantic uproar with the announcement that they would be taking a step back from their British royal family senior roles.
Their intention of spending more time in North America has led many to believe that they may settle down in Canada, one of the Commonwealth countries that Prince Harry’s grandmother Queen Elizabeth is head of state of.
After the announcement, Meghan returned to Canada to be with her 8-month-old son Archie.
On her return, Meghan went back to the Saanich Peninsula, one of the areas where she spent six weeks leading up to 2020. The Saanich Peninsula is a part of the Vancouver Island and is located just north of Victoria, British Columbia’s capital.
The town is a popular choice for people after their retirement owing to its laid-back pace of life and how close it is to ferries to the British Columbia mainland. It is home to lesser than 20,000 residents and boasts several ocean-themed gift shops, boutiques and fish-and-chip huts.
Since their vacation in the area, interests of the residents of the Saanich Peninsula have been captures. The town hosts an interesting mix of middle-class and extremely wealthy people. It has a lot of hidden mansions, so at the moment it is challenging to pinpoint where the couple will be staying.
The couple will definitely get their privacy from the locals, despite the curiosity.
