LONDON- On Monday, an Indonesia student dubbed ‘Britain’s most prolific rapist’, convicted of over 150 offences which includes 136 rapes, has been jailed.
36-year-old Reynhard Sinaga was found guilty in four separate trials for assaulting 48 men. He drugged the men and took them from outside Manchester’s bars and clubs back to his apartment.
Several victims were lured with more drinks or an offer of a place to sleep and the victims were filmed by Sinaga on his phone, according to the Crown Prosecution Service.
In a Manchester court, a judge ruled that he must serve a minimum of 30 years behind bars for the 159 offences dating from January 2015 to May 2017.
A government prosecutor Ian Rushton described Reynhard Sinaga as British legal history’s most prolific rapist.
Sinaga has been a resident of the United Kingdom since 2007 and he made drunk or vulnerable young men his victim, sedating them using the party drug called GHB.
Most victims were heterosexual and had little or no memory of the attacks. One of Sinaga’s victims woke up during an attack only to fight him off and rush to the police with one of his phones, after which the assaulter was finally arrested.
Graphic material of the assaults were found on Sinaga’s digital devices equivalent to 250 DVDs or 300,000 photos.
Sinaga claimed that the victims were acting out sexual fantasies. The court noted that the victim’s belongings were kept by Sinaga as trophies and he looked them up on Facebook.
This is British legal history’s largest rape investigation and is the first time that charges have been split across four disparate trials by the prosecutors.
The police state that there may be many more victims and have appealed other targets to come forward.
