LONDON- In order to mark the new decade, the Buckingham Palace has released a new photographic portrait of four generations of British royalty. In the photo, the Queen Elizabeth, her son Prince Charles, her grandson Prince William and her great-grandson Prince George pose together.
According to the palace, this is just the second time a Queen and three future monarchs have posed for a portrait and it has been released.
In the portrait, Queen Elizabeth is decked up in a white dress accessorised with a black handbag. Both Prince Charles and Prince William were dressed in suits and little Prince George was in a white shirt and green tartan trousers.
The photograph was taken by Ranald Mackechnie in the Buckingham Palace’s Throne Room last month.
The last time a picture of the four generations of the British Royal family was taken was in April 2016 by the same photographer to commemorate the Queen’s 90th birthday. The image was also used on special commemorative stamps.
