MELBOURNE- On Sunday, Tropical cyclone Sarai battered Fiji killing one and leaving one missing- heavy rains and strong winds are affecting the South Pacific nation.
According to the Fiji National Disaster Management Office, one person was in intensive care and over 2500 people were moved to 70 evacuation centres.
The category two cyclone is not expected to make landfall even though the weather service has issued flood and storm warnings for parts of Fiji.
Average winds of up to 110 km/hr at the centre of the cyclone with momentary gusts of 150 km/hr.
Cyclone Sarai moves east at nearly 10 km/hr and it is expected to move into Tongan waters by Tuesday. Meteorological Service in Tonga has issued country-wide heavy rain and flash flood warnings.
