Javi Martinez to face a minimum of six weeks in the sidelines after a muscle injury during the 2-0 Bundesliga victory against VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday.

The 31-year old Spaniard Bayern Munich defender injured his right thigh having to be substituted before halftime.

Interim manager Hansi Flick said that Javi shall be unavailable for a minimum period of at least six weeks as the injury is “very bitter” and is a major muscle injury.

Bayern Munich released a statement saying that Martinez shall miss the Doha training camp from January 4th to 10th. There is also a shadow of doubt regarding the clash at Hertha Berlin next month as Bundesliga recommences post-winter break.
