AYUTTHAYA, Thailand- Elephants in Santa Claus costume handed out presents and candy to Thai students as part of their annual Christmas tradition.
The Buddhist majority country celebrated Christmas in a grand style at the Jirasartwitthaya school in Ayutthaya located north of Bangkok. Their Christmas celebration has been happening for over 15 years.
Four elephants accompanied by their mahouts, decked up in Santa hats went to the school and handed presents to the students. The elephants danced, showed off tricks and together with the students, formed a Christmas tree.
The young children were extremely fond of the adorable elephants. The Thai national animal appears throughout literature and history, and as part of these Christmas celebrations of the year-end holidays, handed out candies, toys and dolls to name a few.
